Megan Cummings

Tampa Bay Attorney

Megan Cummings has devoted her career to standing up for injury victims across Florida. As the founder of Magnolia Shield Law, she represents clients in car accidents, trucking collisions, wrongful death cases, product liability claims, and other complex personal injury matters. Over the years, she has successfully resolved thousands of cases, securing numerous six- and seven-figure settlements and verdicts.

Megan’s passion for advocacy started early. Raised in a small town in Illinois, she knew from childhood she wanted to become a lawyer. After moving to Florida, she earned her degree in criminology from the University of Tampa, graduating with honors, before continuing on to Stetson University College of Law. At Stetson, she distinguished herself both inside and outside the classroom, earning the Whele Award for top performance in trial advocacy and the Doyle Award for negotiation and mediation, while also completing competitive internships with federal judges, corporate counsel, and criminal justice initiatives. She graduated cum laude in 2014.

From the very start of her career, Megan gained hands-on litigation experience, assisting with personal injury cases through law school and then immediately transitioning into practice after passing the Florida Bar. Her work ethic and determination quickly earned her a reputation for both tenacity and results. She is particularly skilled at holding insurance companies accountable, whether by forcing them to pay beyond policy limits or by dismantling opposing experts in litigation to maximize recoveries for her clients.

Today, Megan is recognized as a trusted trial lawyer who blends relentless advocacy with personal attention. She believes clients deserve not only strong legal representation but also clear communication, compassion, and respect during some of the most difficult times of their lives.

Megan is licensed to practice in all Florida state and federal courts and is an active member of several professional legal associations.

From the beginning of her career, Megan Cummings has earned recognition for her ability to deliver results in difficult cases. She has successfully handled thousands of personal injury claims across Florida, recovering millions of dollars for clients injured in car crashes, trucking collisions, workplace accidents, and other acts of negligence. Many of these outcomes included six- and seven-figure settlements, and in several cases, Megan forced insurance companies to pay beyond their policy limits when they tried to underpay her clients.

Her skill inside the courtroom is matched by her preparation outside of it. During law school at Stetson University, Megan was honored with awards for top performance in trial advocacy, negotiation, and mediation. Since then, she has built a reputation as a litigator who can dismantle the defense’s experts and use creative legal strategies to gain leverage in negotiation and trial.

At Magnolia Shield Law, Megan keeps her caseload intentionally limited to ensure every client receives the attention they deserve. This boutique approach allows her to be directly involved in every case, ensuring her clients always know they have a lawyer who is fully invested in their fight for justice.

Outside of the courtroom, Megan values time with her family and the community she serves. Raised in a small town in Illinois, she carries those roots of hard work and resilience into everything she does. Living on Florida’s Gulf Coast, she enjoys the beaches, local culture, and supporting neighborhood businesses.

Her personal philosophy mirrors her professional one: compassion and accountability go hand in hand. Just as she is relentless in holding insurance companies responsible, she believes in being present, approachable, and genuine with the people in her life.

Megan’s commitment to helping others doesn’t end with her law practice. She continues to mentor younger attorneys, stay active in professional associations, and contribute her time to causes that promote fairness and justice.

I’ve had personal experience with Megan Cummings, from a professional standpoint and personal standpoint. I cannot say enough good things. She is professional, passionate, knowledgeable and fights hard for her clients to make sure they are getting what they deserve. If you’re looking for someone to be in your corner, who communicates throughout the case and genuinely cares about you, call Megan!
